May 2021 Photo Contest Winning Photos

Photos are placed monthly on the NDCW Facebook page as the cover page.

May’s Cover photo comes to us from Bailey Carolina Brown, Dally Angus out of Montpelier ND Branding time is a fan favorite at the ranch. There is so much pride behind that brand and it’s a reminder when you see that brand being used how much work goes into your program. Be proud of your brand because you should be!

Our April 2022 cover photo comes to us from Blake & Whitney Wold of Missouri River Red Angus of Watford City “No hour of life is wasted that is spent in the saddle”-Winston Churchill This photograph was taken during our branding as we were roping and dragging our (my husband Blake Wold and myself) registered red angus calves to brand. Our nephew has been practicing roping for quite some time and had decided to officially put his skills to the test! I was able to snag this awesome shot as he roped one of his first calves and began dragging it out. It was so exciting for both Blake and I, as well as his parents (father picture helping pull the rope, mother in the background) to watch his confidence skyrocket after this moment. His perseverance and patience paid off and we can’t wait to see the cowboy he will be someday!

March 2022 cover photo comes to us from Kaitlyn Hoff of the Lazy DJ Ranch in Flasher, ND
In the midst of the snow storm the cows needed to get home to prepare for the weather ahead.

February 2022 Cover photo comes from Kenna (Leiseth) Heggen of Rawson, ND. 701 is the ND area code, and I’m lucky enough to work side by side with my sister, dad and grandpa, raising our cattle here for 4 generations. I feel that everyday, you can still learn something new and that’s part of what makes it so exciting & difficult. We don’t have a large operation, but it’s exciting to be able to improve your herd and in turn, the quality of your calves & to be able to see that progress every year!

Our January 2022 cover photo comes to us from Galbreath Farms out of Enderlin ND Photo by Raylene Galbreath “A mild start to winter means we’re able to keep the cows out on corn stubble even past this day on December 20th, 2020. Although it brings extra work like hauling and chipping water, or as our 4 year old puts it, “stirring the soup”, it is worth it because it reduces feed costs and allows me to get some up close and personal shots of the herd!”

Our December 2021 cover photo comes to us from Bailey Carolina Brown Dally Angus out of Montpelier ND Photos by Bailey Brown with Double B Photography Calving season is typically split in two, some at the ranch and the others calve in the pasture. I never run out of photo opportunities in the pasture with all the handsome babies laying around in the buck brush. There is something about a young calf so full of life and an extra wet nose!

November 2021 cover photo comes to us from Abby Haberman - Haberman Stock Farm of LaMoure, ND “We have had this girl for a few years now and she has grown to become a very friendly cow along with the rest of our herd. It feels great having such amazing cattle that we can work with and capture cool pictures like this!”

October 2021 Cover Photo comes to us from Kaitlyn Hoff Lazy DJ Ranch Flasher, ND Henry (2yrs) and Brooks (1yrs), the boys with no fear, are ensuring their cows are stocked up on mineral for the summer months in the pasture!

September 2021 cover photo comes to us from Blake and Whitney Wold, Missouri River Red Angus Watford City, ND “Home is where the herd is” This photograph was taken as my husband Blake Wold and I were checking cows by the river one evening. Being married to a rancher, you have to take what you can get for quick little “dates”—so we figured a quick trip down to the river would be a nice little moment away together (even if we were checking cows ). We are beyond blessed to be able to utilize many miles the river as one of our main water sources for our registered red angus herd.

Our August 2021 Cover Photo is brought to you by Baily Carolina Brown! The dogs name is Reba & she’s the go to girl for moving cows at the ranch. Dally Angus out of Montpelier ND Photos by Bailey Brown with Double B Photography

Barnyard BFFs" Our July 2021 photo contest winner post is Jenna Johnson of Bar O Bar Ranch. This is of my 9 month old daughter Rachel during her very first calving season. She was out with my husband Ed and I working with a first calf heifer to mother up with her calf. He was laid down in the comfort of the barn, so I took the opportunity for a picture before putting him back in with momma.
